What you'll need:
1. Gingerbread Pieces - I started with a gingerbread kit for each kid. They cost $12 if you order them on Amazon or you can usually find them at your local grocery store. I bought mine at Fred Meyers for $11.99.
3. Candy (from the kit or individually purchased):
-Gum Drops
-Peppermints (Pinwheels)
-Pucker Ups
-Mini Jellies
-Multicolored Candy Beads
4. Added Candy (just a few ideas):
- Mini Marshmallows
-Gummy Bears
-Mini Candy Canes
5. Festive Bags- use for leftovers and take home candy.
6. Extra Decorations- sprinkles and colored icing.
Set Up and Preparation:
Step 1: Cover your table with paper or a table cloth. I used drawing paper from IKEA. Tape the paper to the table so it doesn't move around.
Step 2: Open your kits (however many you have) and take out all of the candy. Separate them and place into individual bowls. Add the extra candy into individual bowls as well. This makes up a colorful display and allows each child to choose the candy he or she wants.
Step 3: Set up individual stations, using the tray, gingerbread pieces, icing and festive bag.
Step 4: Cut out the instructions and use an art stand/display easel to put at the head of the table for the kids and adults to refer to when assembling their gingerbread houses.
Step 5: Let the fun begin! Encourage your kids design and create their own unique gingerbread house!
* We like to promote individual creativity. Encourage the kids to use their own imaginations when creating their houses by not comparing their work to the box picture or to other kids creations (which can sometimes happen).
Here are some masterpieces from our party!
